3 Days Kibale chimpanzee trekking expedition is the one of Uganda’s short safaris but rewarding that takes you to the western part of Uganda for the most attractive safari activity after the top gorilla tracking. This expedition takes you to encounter with the primates that share 99% DNA with the human beings. Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park.
On the 1st day of the safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you from your hotel in Kampala or from Entebbe International Airport and he will welcome you and then brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will start on your journey to Kabale forest national park. This takes you approximately about 5 to 6 hours’ drive. Along the way you will have the enroute lunch. After you will proceed with your journey and then you will pass though the scenic landscapes and then enjoy attractions like scenic town of Fort portal, the stunning Crater Lakes, the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains that offers you unique spotting experience as your stretching your legs, taking beautiful pictures and among others. And once you arrive at your lodge, you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk experience.
On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. You will meet your safari guide and then transfer to Kanyanchu park headquarters for the chimpanzee trekking briefing about the rules and regulations to follow. After the briefing you will be divided in various groups of 6 people per group and then each group will be allocated to professional park guide and then enter the lush rainforest and start trekking in the forest while looking for the chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees because these creatures keep on moving from one place to another while looking for food. Along the way looking for the chimpanzees you will be stunned with the spotting of various primates like L’Hoest’s monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey and sighting various bird species, spotting plant species and among others. And once the chimpanzees are located you will spend one hour in the presence of the chimpanzees while watching the chimpanzees doing their daily activities like playing, fighting, mating, resting, hunting, watching them making nests for the night, observing their behavior, taking pictures and recording their videos to show people back home after the African safari. After the one hour of experience you will trek back to the park headquarters and then meet with your driver guide and then rewarded with the certificates for taking part in chimpanzee trekking. Later you will return back to the lodge for lunch.
Bigodi Swamp walk.
After lunch, you will meet your safari guide and then go for the impressive guided nature walk in Bigodi swamp this is such massive to where you will spot various bird species like the shoebill storks, great blue turacos, Great-blue turacos, Yellow-billed Barbets, White-spotted Flufftail and among other plus viewing other small mammal like sitatungas, mongooses, otters, duikers, bush bucks and among many others, and primates like black and white colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and others while taking pictures for memories. After the experience you will be transferred back to the lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Departure.
On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and then enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and then meet your safari guide and start on your journey back to Kampala with the incredible views along the way. And once you arrive your safari guide will drop you off at your convenient place that will make your safari come to the end.
