3 Days Semuliki National Park is an interesting safari that takes you to Semuliki National Park that is known as ‘’the true birders haven’’ and known for its hot springs and unique lowland tropical rainforest, that offers a distinct safari experience in Uganda with African Vacation Safaris, that offers you the detailed 3-day itinerary.

Day 1: Pick up and travel to Semuliki National Park and night game drive.

Day 1: Pick up and travel to Semuliki National Park and night game drive.
On the 1st day of the safari, depending on your location your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you from Entebbe International Airport or from your hotel in Kampala. He will welcome you and then brief you about the safari, after the briefing you will begin your journey to Semuliki National Park in western Uganda the drive takes you about 7 to 8 hours and along the way you will pass through the scenic landscapes and then town of Fort Portal with the enroute lunch. After lunch you will proceed with your journey to the lodge and check in and relax.
At around 7:00 pm you will meet with your safari guide and then transfer to the park for the evening game drive with your experienced safari guide from African Vacation Safaris, with the spotlights, you will search for the great animals like white-tailed mongoose, slender mongoose, standard and pennant-winged nightjars, leopards, spotted hyenas, civets and among others. After the experience you will return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Sempaya Hot Springs.
On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast you will meet with your safari guide and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing on the chimpanzee tracking rules and guidelines. After the briefing you will explore the forest in the challenging terrain due to the terrain, during the tracking you will encounter other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, de Brazza’s monkeys, olive baboons and others, as the dense forest also offers excellent birdwatching opportunities. And once the chimpanzees are located you will be given one hour to be in the presence of the chimpanzees while watching their behavior, watching them doing their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, mating, hunting and among others. After one hour you will transfer back to the starting point and be awarded with the chimpanzee tracking certificate. Then your safari guide will transfer you to your lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will meet your safari guide and then visit Sempaya Hot Springs the park’s famous main springs that includes Female Hot Springs (Nyasimbi); this is a short, 30-minute walk through a forest that leads to this bubbling geyser to where water spouts up to 2 meters high at a temperature at 1030C, as well you can even boil eggs and plantain here during your visit. As well you can visit the Male Hot Springs (Bintente) this takes you an hour’s walk leads to this broader, this steaming pool (12m in diameter) in a swampy clearing with a stunning Mount Rwenzori backdrop that is such wonderful. You will learn about the local folklore and scientific explanations behind these geothermal wonders, and then observe the unique bird species and other primates around the hot springs. After the experience you will return to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Morning game drive and departure.
On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast, after breakfast at 7:00am you will meet with your safari guide and then go for the morning game drive that is the final game drive to spot more wildlife in the open plains of the park, and this is where you will spot forest elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and if you are lucky you can spot lions, leopards. Optional you can go for the birding excursion if you are a bird lover you will go on a dedicated birding walk along the trails like Kirumia Trail or the public road between Sempaya and Ntandi. Semuliki boasts an incredible diversity of bird species like Central African species that are found nowhere else in East Africa like Congo serpent eagle, hornbills, Nkulengu rail and among others. After the experience you will return back to the lodge and have lunch.
After lunch and check out from your lodge, depending on your departure schedule, you may have time for the brief cultural visit to one of the local communities near the park as the Batwa pygmies, you will learn about their traditional way of life, including fire-making, medicinal plant knowledge and others for one hour.
You will later begin your drive back to Kampala or Entebbe while enjoying the scenic journey and then arrive in Kampala in the early evening, marking the end of your Semuliki safari with African Vacation Safaris.
