Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park.

Depending on your location on the 1st day of the safari, your safari guide from our company African Vacation Safaris, will pick you and then brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will start on your journey to Kibale forest national park that takes does not exceed 6 hours’ drive, along the way you will have the wonderful views and then enroute lunch. After lunch you will continue with your journey with the perfect views and diverse attractions like crater lakes, views of the Rwenzori Mountain and among many others. Later you will drive and reach your lodge and check in for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation in Kibale forest national park.

On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, you will meet your safari guide, with your packed lunch and then transfer to the park’s headquarters at Kanyanchu Information centre for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee habituation. After the briefing you will enter in the forest with the presence of the park rangers, conservationists, scientists, and among others and then start looking for the non-habituated chimpanzees, as these chimpanzees are not used to the human beings. This takes you about the whole day that offers you a unique opportunity to spend an extended period with chimpanzees as they gradually introduced to observe chimpanzees closely, learn about their behaviours, and understand their social dynamics. And once the chimpanzees you will be given four hours to be in the presence of the chimpanzees that is where you will witness the chimpanzees de-nesting, feeding  socializing, grooming, nesting for the next night, and among others. During the four hours you will take the pictures and record the videos of the chimpanzees. After the four hours you will trek back to the starting point and then you will be rewarded with the chimpanzee habitation certificates for taking part in chimpanzee habitation experience. And then your driver guide will transfer you to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and afternoon nature walk in Kibale forest national park.

On the third day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your hearty breakfast. After breakfast you will meet your safari guide and then be transferred at the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations by the experienced park guided and park rangers to follow during chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will grouped into various groups of 6 people per group and then you will be assigned to a chimpanzee trekking ranger who will guide you on this wonderful trek.

Chimpanzee trekking takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours or more depending on the location of the chimpanzees, because these creatures always move to look for food. Along the way looking for the chimpanzees you will spot  various animal species, bird species, plant species, tree species that will make the experience rewarding.

And once the chimpanzees are found you will be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the chimpanzees; that is watching the chimpanzees feeding, watching the chimpanzees playing, watching the mothers breastfeeding their mothers, taking their pictures and recording their videos. And after the one hour of experience you will be transferred to the starting point to where you will be rewarded with the chimpanzee trekking certificates for taking part in chimpanzee trekking. After your driver safari guide will transfer you back to the lodge for lunch.

And after lunch, you will meet your safari guide and then you will go for the community and the nature walk to experience the fascinating culture of the people of Kibale and interact with them, watching them doing their rest of the day’s activities and others, enjoying their songs and dances. After the experience you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 4: Departure.

On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and then enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and then meet your safari guide and start on your journey back to Kampala. Along the way you will have a stopover to explore the Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru caves and enjoy the interesting history of the caves, after you will experience the waterfalls and then Crater Lake Tours in Fort Portal. After the experiences you will have en-route lunch and the start on your journey to Kampala and upon your arrival your safari driver will drop you off either at Entebbe International Airport to catch your flight back home or dropped to your hotel in Kampala that will make your safari come to the end.
