Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Transfer to Kibale forest national park.

On the 1st day of the safari, depending on your location your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you either from Entebbe International Airport or from your hotel in Kampala. He will welcome you and then brief you about the safari, after the briefing you will start on your journey to Kibale Forest national park that takes you approximately 5 to 6 hours’. Along the way you will be fascinated by the beautiful attractions like people’s farms, stunning landscapes, and views of the crater lakes, and mount Rwenzori and among many others. You will have the enroute-lunch, after lunch you will start on your journey to Kibale and upon your arrival your will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest national park.

On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and then enjoy your hearty breakfast. After breakfast, you will meet your safari guide and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee tracking. After the briefing you will be grouped into various groups of 6 people per group, and each group will be allocated to the skilled and professional safari guide and then explore the forest to look for the chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking takes a period of about 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees.

While looking for the chimpanzees you will admire the various biodiversity like animal species, bird species, plant species, tree species that will make the experience exceptional. And once the chimpanzees are located you will be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the chimpanzees; that is watching the chimpanzees feeding, watching the chimpanzees playing, watching the mothers breastfeeding their young ones, taking their pictures and recording their videos. And after the one hour of experience you will be transferred to the starting point to where you will be rewarded with the chimpanzee trekking certificates for taking part in chimpanzee trekking. Then your safari guide will drive you back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will meet your safari and then go for the Bigodi walk experience as this is scenic experience that takes you through the lush wetlands and forests surrounding Kibale Forest national park led by the knowledgeable guide into the perfect trails, while spotting a variety of bird species, butterflies and other small mammals while learning about flora and fauna, this experience allows you to connect with nature that offers you enriching and unique experience. After the experience you will drive back to your lodge for dinner, nature and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.

On the 3rd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and then get served with your delicious breakfast. After breakfast you will check out from your lodge and the meet your safari guide and embark on your journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. The journey takes you about 6 to 7 hours’ driving distance, along the way you will pass through attractive landscapes, rolling hills and tea plantations and along others. You will pass through scenic town of Kabale that offers opportunities you stunning landscapes. And once you arrive you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Batwa cultural experience.

On the 4th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast you will carry your lunch, and meet your safari guide and he will transfer you to the park’s headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing of the rules and regulations to follow by the experienced park ranger and guides. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and also conversant with the various gorilla trekking traits. Gorilla trekking takes a period of about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. During gorilla trekking you will be attracted with the diverse spotting of various animal species like forest elephants, bushbucks, bush pigs and other and primate species like black and white colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and various bird species including African green pigeon, African harrier hawk,  and others. And once the mountain gorillas are spotted you be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas, that is watching them feeding, playing, breastfeeding, mating, hunting, watching mothers grooming their young ones, taking pictures and recording their videos and among others. After the experience you will be transferred back to the starting point to where you will be will receive the gorilla trekking certificates for taking part in gorilla trekking. After the experience you will be transferred for the Batwa community experience this is where you will interact with them, check out their curio shops, enjoying their dances and songs, and among others. Later you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 5: Departure.

On the 5th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and take your hearty breakfast. After breakfast you will check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and then meet your safari driver and then begin your journey to Kampala. Along the way you will have the stopover in Mbarara for the enroute lunch.

After lunch you will continue with your journey and make another stopover for the equator experience in Kayabwe for equator experience, purchasing souvenirs, taking pictures and among others. After the equator experience you will continue with your journey until Kampala. And your safari guide will drop you off to your hotel in Kampala or to Entebbe International Airport that will make your safari come to the end.
